Tamborine Mountain Eagles:  0

Runaway Bay                        :   5

31st May, Long Rd Sports Ground

It was never going to be an easy match.
Tamborine were playing Runaway Bay, the first-placed team on the ladder. The defence kept the Runaway Bay forwards away from the goals for the first twenty minutes of the first half. But when the Runaway Bay forwards made a break for it, Tamborine could do nothing, but chase. The defence sprinted after them, but in vain. Runaway Bay's first goal.
Runaway Bay scored another goal before the break.

The 'second-half-specialists' couldn't do anything, this time! The second half yielded three more goals for the visitors.

Well done, Runaway Bay! They certainly deserve to be on top of the ladder.

No matches next weekend. Tamborine have had eight matches in four weeks! They will have a well-deserved break!
Well done!

Tamborine Mountain :    5

Tugun                          :   1

30th May, Betty Diamond Field, Tugun

Hardly a cloud in the sky, a firm football pitch and two bustling teams trying to take home the three points - a recipe for a great soccer match! And, not to mention the planes! Tamborine were playing at Betty Diamond field, Tugun, situated at the end of Gold Coast Airport's main runway! Planes were flying low over the field ready to land at the airport; at least one plane every five minutes!

Tamborine came out of the blocks, with E.P scoring his first goal this year, as a defender. Conor then followed up with another. Martin then scored a trademark Tim Cahill goal: the ball hit the bottom of the crossbar, and then bounces just over the goal-line!
Amazing goal!

The half-time score: 3-0 to Tamborine Mtn.

Soon after the whistle blew to restart play, Clancy showed his form with a great strike from the edge of the goalbox! However, Tugun scored from a free kick taking the score to 4-1. Conor scored his second, finishing the game with two goals, and Tamborine finishing with a win! Thanks Tugun for giving us a match!

Here are some pics, (with planes of course)!

Planes!

Great throw, Parker!

Good tackle!

Tamborine Mountain        : 6

Coomera White                 : 4

24th May, Viney Park

3 points, finally!
Again, Tamborine opened the scoring for the match, with Jack Hawker and Clancy both bagging early goals. For Jack, that was only one goal of three he scored today. Congratulations on your hat-trick! Again, the opposition scored the next three goals. However, it was Jack's day, and he scored another goal before half time, making it 3-3.

Early in the second half, Coomera were awarded a penalty for a foul in Tamborine's goalbox. But Indigo wasn't going to let Coomera get into the lead again. An amazing save kept Tamborine in the running for those three points up for grabs. Indigo received many pats on the back for pulling off what seamed the inevitable. Soon after, Jack again showed his stunning left foot strike, smashing the ball past Coomera's goalkeeper, and then celebrating his hat-trick! Conor scored his second goal of the season, intercepting Coomera's unfortunate misdirected heada.
 5-3 to Tamborine.
Tamborine were given a scare when Coomera scored again, but it was all over when Archie scored his share of the teams goals, making it 6-4.

Two high-scoring matches in a row: ten goals scored altogether in each.

Next week, Tamborine face Tugun and Runaway Bay. Good Luck!

Great ball Archie!

The Come-from-Behind Kings (Tambo) : 5

Robina City                                               : 5

23rd May, Long Rd Sports Ground

The 'Come-from-Behind kings'; the suggested new name for our Tamborine Mtn U13 division 1 side. Unlike in Murwillumbah, Tamborine scored the first two goals, making it 2-0. Then, it looked like, Tamborine paid the price for overconfidence! Robina City scored four goals in the first half: after Tamborine scored their first two goals!

At half-time - with the score at 4-2 in Robina's favour - Coach Joe stated, 'we did it (come-from-behind) against Murwillumbah, we can do it again today!' No-one argued with that!

For the first twenty minutes of the second half, Robina stayed strong. Then, as if on cue, Clancy opened the scoring for the second half ( for Tamborine). Then, Conor tapped in a deflection off Robina's goalkeeper to take the score to 4-all! Straight after Robina's kickoff, a deflected ball rolled to Bailey. Taking his chances from half way, he smashed the ball in the direction of the goal. There was a loud 'Ohhh!' from the crowd as the ball sailed through the air; the wind behind it. No-one could believe it when it hit the inside of one post - still in the air - and nestled into the back of the net! And weren't Tamborine and the crowd elated! The cheering continued non-stop for twenty seconds! 5-4 with four minutes to go. 3 goals scored in six minutes! However, an amazing corner kick and a great heada delivered the relief for Robina. As the final whistle blew, Tambo weren't that disappointed in not winning, but happy to take home one point instead of none! A great match!

Tamborine are playing Coomera tomorrow, and we don't know what to expect!

MUR 3-2 TME

Tamborine Mountain 2-3 Murwillumbah

After a disappointing match the day before, Tamborine were hungry for some points. As the game before, the opposition started well, knocking in two goals in the first half; and forcing Indigo to produce some stunning saves. At half time, the score was 2-nil to Murwillumbah. However, Tambo were not giving up. 10 minutes into the second half, that attitude seamed to pay off, with Archie scoring a cracking goal to make it 2-1. Five minutes after that, a converted penalty lifted the score to 2-2!
It looked like it was going to be a come from behind victory, at that rate! But, Murwillumbah held on. Just when everyone thought it waas going to end a draw, Murwillumbah knocked a goal in in the dying seconds.
Tamborine 2, Murwillumbah 3.
The Tamborine Team was heart-broken. However, the coaches, Joe, Dane and Karl, didn't care: pleased to see everyone put in 100% effort.

And, guess what,: two more matches for Tambo next weekend! Good Luck!

Tamborine Mountain 3-0 Coomera Maroon

The perfect day for a soccer match. Blue skies without a single cloud. Coomera started off well with two goals in the first half. Tamborine attacked well, but Coomera gave them a run for their money. The coaches were extremely happy about the quality of the soccer though. Tamborine Mountain have another match at Murwillumbah tomorrow; an early start for everyone. Good Luck!

    Tamborine Mountain Eagles          3 - 0         Tweed

4th Round, 9th May 2015, Long Road Sports Centre

After the previously scheduled match was rained out, Tambo were dying for a soccer match. Yesterday, against Tweed, Tamborine played well, with Clancy scoring a goal early in the first half, then the midfield followed up, scoring two in the second. The defense held strong, and didn't concede a goal. Indigo was at his best today, saving countless chances of goals from the Tweed attack.

There are two matches next weekend for the Eagles, and this match was a great confidence-booster for those, and the for the rest of the season.
Thanks Tweed for giving Tambo a well-needed match!
